Entry #4: Struggle between school and work

One of the biggest struggles Ive seen, and am going through, is finding that perfect balance between school and work. Personally, it wasn't something I was expecting to have a problem with when I initially enrolled in college but as the weeks went on, it became increasingly problematic balancing the two. Even though I'm still going through it, I do have some tips that have helped at least reduce the problems between the two.

Reaching Out

A tip that was obvious yet so impactful is to start planning ahead whether it's with assignments or planning free time so you don't burn yourself out. Now if you're like me and your job doesn't have a set schedule, this can still work but instead you'd have to plan by the week. Things start to look a lot more clear and less overwhelming when you're able to take the time out to plan and categorize everything into a chart thats right in front of you. Another thing that helps is to maybe reach out to your school counselor or maybe job manager to see if they can maybe help make a schedule thats right for you. Now with this, the best choice is usually the school counselor unless you are really close and chill with your manager.

You're Doing Great

Don't ever feel like you're not going to make it through if it gets troubling trying to manage both, some progress is better than no progress. You got this, keep up your stride and don't give up, in time you'll learn to be able to comfortably manage both. But also never be afraid to reach out to different people for help, there's plenty of resources out there to help get you on the right track whether its school resources or reaching out to other classmates/friends.
