Entry #7: The Story We All Need To Hear
Entry #7: The Truth We All Need To Hear
Let me start by saying that the movie "Fresh" will change your perspective on food and maybe make you think twice of what you decide to ingest into your body. This movie goes into depth, safely, of what is going on behind the scenes of the food we love to eat from the perspective of farmers and agricultural professionals. I believe this is a film we should all watch to remind ourselves how much our food and the process of how we get our food has changed for the sake of making it cheaper to produce. Cheap isn't always a good thing.

The main thing that stuck with me throughout the whole film is that it becomes apparent that the food industry has become focused on quantity rather than quality, the cheapest and fastest way to produce food even if it requires adding different factors into the feed for animals like the process of feeding dead animals to other animals just to cut costs. But nature always fights back and through that we end up with those animals carrying diseases that transfer straight to the products we have at our stores now. As someone who does this themselves, it's easy to not look at labels or maybe ignore what's included in the food you're buying because the price tag speaks louder than the ingredients. Consumers aren't the only one affected by this but farmers themselves had to adapt to an industrialized change over the years with many in the film being against the methods used. One man exterminated his herd because it didn't feel right selling the animals he bred with artificial contents to other farmers. This movie immediately had me thinking once they said "Americans fear inconvenience" and when you think about it, it's true. Even on things outside the food industry, we stray more towards making everything convenient.

In my personal opinion, I feel like over the years we have grown custom to these changes because its a lot easier on our wallets and that's a sacrifice were willing to make. I do think, however, that by watching this film it can open our eyes more and pay more attention to what's happening around us in our favorite foods.
